Knicks’ Gallinari gets cortisone shot for bad back

NEW YORK (AP)—Knicks rookie Danilo Gallinari received another cortisone shotfor his ailing back and will have an “extended period of rest” while seekingadditional opinions on treatment.

Gallinari met with two specialists Thursday and received the shot. He willget more opinions in the next few weeks on his “long-term management options,”the Knicks said Friday.

The forward from Italy has struggled to get on the floor since the Knickstook him with the No. 6 pick in the draft. He injured the back in his firstsummer league game and didn’t appear in any preseason games.

Gallinari briefly appeared in the first two regular-season contests beforethe pain flared up again.
