CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (Ticker)—Charlotte Bobcats shooting guard Jason Richardson had his knee scoped Wednesday morning and could be sidelined up to a week.
Charlotte’s leading scorer, Richardson had been experiencing inflammation in his right knee, prompting the exploratory arthroscopic surgery.
The Bobcats said in a statement that the procedure revealed no structural damage. Richardson will not play Friday against the Utah Jazz and has been listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Orlando Magic.
Richardson has averaged 17.6 points in six games this season for the offensively challenged Bobcats, who are scoring just 87.3 points per contest - the second-lowest mark in the NBA.
The 6-6 Richardson likely will be replaced by Adam Morrison, a former lottery pick who scored 16 points off the bench in Tuesday’s 88-80 loss to Denver.
