Report: Heart issue for Mobley holding up Knicks-Clippers trade |
|
BRISTOL, CONNECTICUT (TICKER) —None of the four players involved in Friday's trade between the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Clippers has yet suited up for his new team.
According to an ESPN.com report on Monday, the issue holding up the full completion of the trade is a health concern regarding the heart of guard Cuttino Mobley.
Mobley was traded along with Tim Thomas to the Knicks in a deal that sent forward Zach Randolph and guard Mardy Collins to the Clippers. NBA rules stipulate that every player involved must pass a physical before anyone can play with his new team. Typically, there is a 72-hour grace period - two days to undergo a physical and another day for all the results to be announced.
According to the report, the two teams involved agreed to extend that deadline by another 24 hours so that Mobley can see a heart specialist on Tuesday morning.
The new deadline is 6:30 p.m. EST on Tuesday.
Mobley is averaging 13.7 points this season, while Randolph - who was prevented from suiting up Monday night for the Clippers' home game against the New Orleans Hornets - is averaging 20.5 points and 12.5 boards.
